NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Patricia Gray in The New Flux. The exhibition opens October 20, 2017 and runs through November 9,  2017 with an opening reception on Thursday, October 26 from 6-8 pm. “Growing up in a very isolated region of Northern Canada,” Patricia Gray says, “I developed a close kinship with the natural world as a young child.” That kinship is the basis for her art, in which the patterns and textures of nature are turned into graphically striking images. Sometimes painting on birch panels, she allows the physicality of her materials to reveal on the innate qualities of the world she depicts. Working in acrylic paints, gels, pastes, and grounds, Gray employs a bold color palette and fluid style to give her landscapes a presence that captures the essence of the wilderness while unveiling a vivid interior world. From the shapes of her images—which often take the long, narrow dimensions of a tree reaching toward the sky—to the importance that the circle, with its connotations of totality and timelessness, assumes in her work, Gray is sensitive to the spiritual power of nature’s forms. She says that she intends for each painting to serve as “a portal for transformation” for her viewers. The artist lives and works in Canada.   Exhibition Dates: October 20  – November 9, 2017 Reception: Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, 6:00pm - 8:00pm Gallery Hours: Tues-Sat 11:00am – 6:00pm Gallery Location: 530 West 25th Street, New York, NY Event URL: https://www.agora-gallery.com/artistpage/Patricia_Gray.aspx   Featured Artists: Muggi Peters  |  Su-Jeong NAM  |  Patricia Olguín  |  Patricia Gray  |  Chijia He  |  Cynthia Evers  |  Gitte Peters  |  Claudia Breidenbach  |  Luz Letts  |  Michael Dolen  |  Stivi   About the Exhibition New Flux The New Flux presents a cross-section of different pictorial practices gathered around the theme of nature in urban life. Taking what is specific to a natural setting—a landscape, a body of water—and showing how it impacts the flow or urban life, The New Flux makes a case that our dependency on nature is just as pervasive as our dependency on technology.
